County Recycling Center to Accept Food Bank Donations

Food Bank donations will be accepted at the county recycling center at 40 Polhemus Lane on Saturday, February 4th and throughout 2012 as part of the County's first Saturday recyucling drop-off day program.

The center is open 8am through 2pm on the following Saturdays: 2/4, 3/3, 4/7, 5/5, 6/2, 7/14, 8/4, 9/8, 10/6, 11/3, and 12/1.

Acceptable recyclables include newspaper, magazines, junk mail and other papaer, corrugated cardboard, phone books, plastic bottles and other plastics (#1-#7), microwave ovens, textiles antifreeze, scrap metal, used motor oil and oil filters, glass bottles, empty (dry) paint cans, passenger tires (limit of 8, with or without rims), chipboard, electronics properly prepared rechargeable and button-cell batteries, and aluminum, steel and bi-metal cans.

Canned goods and non-perishable foods may be dropped off at the center during the same hours on first Saturdays.

Free recycling of consumer electronics is available from Newtech Recycling, Inc. in Somerset. Call 732-469-3363 for details.
